At Low Cost Veterinary Surgery Clinic of Mesa, we believe that keeping your pet healthy shouldn’t come at a high cost. That’s why we provide affordable, high-quality pet vaccinations to protect your dog or cat from serious and preventable diseases. Our team of certified veterinary professionals delivers care with compassion, precision, and a focus on long-term wellness.

Living here in Mesa, we also know how much our community loves its pets. With endless sunshine, scenic parks, and pet-friendly spaces like Red Mountain Park, Countryside Park, and the Mesa Riverview area, it’s no wonder our furry friends are part of nearly every family outing. But in a region where pets often spend time outdoors or around other animals, keeping their vaccinations up to date is one of the most important things you can do to protect them. With this in mind, we make it simple and affordable to stay current on your pet’s vaccine schedule; because prevention is always better, safer, and less costly than treatment.

Why Vaccinations Are Essential for Every Pet

Vaccinations are your pet’s first line of defense against contagious diseases that can spread quickly through contact with other animals, shared environments, or even mosquito and tick bites. Here in Mesa, where our warm desert climate allows for outdoor activity nearly year-round, those risks can increase, especially for unvaccinated pets who love to explore.

Dog vaccinations protect against serious illnesses like Parvovirus, Distemper, and Rabies, which can be life-threatening and costly to treat. For cats, vaccinations prevent Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV), Feline Distemper, and upper respiratory infections.

Vaccinating your pet not only protects them, but also safeguards other pets and people in your community. Rabies vaccination, for example, is required by law in Arizona, and for good reason. It’s a disease that affects both animals and humans, but it’s entirely preventable through proper vaccination.

Understanding Core and Non-Core Vaccines

Not all vaccines are the same, and we help every pet parent understand which ones their pet truly needs. At our Mesa clinic, we tailor vaccine recommendations based on your pet’s species, age, health, and lifestyle.

Core Vaccines

These are the essential vaccinations that every pet should receive, regardless of their environment or activity level.

For Dogs:

  • Rabies: Protects against a fatal viral disease that affects the nervous system.
  • DA2PP (Distemper, Adenovirus, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza): Often called the “5-in-1” vaccine, this combination protects dogs from several highly contagious diseases.

For Cats:

  • Rabies: Required by Arizona law for all cats, whether indoor or outdoor.
  • FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia): Protects against severe respiratory and gastrointestinal infections.

Non-Core Vaccines

These vaccines are recommended based on your pet’s lifestyle and level of exposure.

For Dogs:

  • Bordetella (Kennel Cough): Ideal for dogs that visit boarding facilities, grooming salons, or dog parks.
  • Leptospirosis: Protects against a bacterial disease that can spread through standing water (something we see after summer monsoon rains in Mesa).
  • Canine Influenza: Recommended for social dogs who frequently interact with other pets.

For Cats:

  • FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus): Important for outdoor cats or those who share space with other felines.

Our veterinarians will also review your pet’s daily routine and environment to determine the best vaccination plan: never recommending unnecessary shots, only what’s truly beneficial for your pet’s health.

Affordable Vaccine Packages and Flexible Scheduling

We understand that veterinary costs can add up, which is why we’re committed to keeping pet vaccinations affordable for every Mesa family. We offer low-cost vaccine packages and individual vaccine options to make prevention accessible without compromising quality or safety.

Our pricing is transparent, and we’ll walk you through exactly what’s included before any service begins. Whether your pet needs a full puppy or kitten vaccine series or annual boosters, our goal is to make it easy and cost-effective to stay on schedule.

To make things even more convenient, we offer walk-in availability and same-day appointments whenever possible. We know life gets busy, so our team is here to help you keep your pet protected without the long wait times or high costs you might find elsewhere.

What to Expect During Your Pet’s Vaccination Visit

We keep the vaccination process simple, quick, and stress-free for both pets and owners.

  • Check-In and Exam: We’ll start with a brief health check to make sure your pet is well enough to receive vaccines.
  • Vaccine Administration: Our licensed team carefully administers the necessary vaccines using safe and gentle techniques.
  • Observation: We recommend a short observation period after the vaccination to ensure your pet reacts normally.
  • Aftercare and Schedule: We’ll provide a record of your pet’s vaccinations and outline the next booster date to keep their protection current.

We’ll also answer any questions you have about side effects, at-home care, or future appointments. Most pets only experience mild fatigue or tenderness at the injection site — symptoms that pass quickly.

The Risks of Skipping Vaccinations

We know some pet owners worry about over-vaccination or may delay shots due to cost. However, the risks of skipping vaccines far outweigh any short-term concerns. Diseases like Parvo and Distemper remain common in the Phoenix metro area, and outbreaks can spread quickly among unvaccinated pets.

Treatment for these illnesses can be painful, expensive, and not always successful. Regular dog vaccinations and cat vaccines provide protection that lasts and prevent unnecessary suffering. With our affordable pricing, protecting your pet is both simple and responsible.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pet Vaccinations

How often should my pet be vaccinated?
Puppies and kittens need a series of vaccines every few weeks until about 16 weeks old, followed by annual boosters. Adult pets typically receive boosters once a year, but we’ll personalize your pet’s schedule.

Can my indoor-only cat skip vaccines?
Even indoor cats can be exposed to viruses through open windows, other pets, or new animals brought into the home. Core vaccines like Rabies and FVRCP are still strongly recommended.

What if my pet missed a booster?
Don’t worry: we can easily get your pet back on track. We’ll determine which vaccines are due and restart protection safely.

Are vaccines safe?
Yes. Vaccines undergo rigorous testing for safety and effectiveness. Our veterinary team uses only approved, high-quality products to ensure your pet’s well-being.

Do you offer vaccine clinics or packages?
Yes! We regularly provide low-cost vaccination days and convenient bundle packages to help Mesa pet owners save money while keeping their pets protected.

The staff are so friendly. I have brought in TNR cats, they even loaned me traps. They are 100% the best clinic I have been to. If you do TNR, this is your place. If you have your own pet I would trust them with your pet. They are great, hands down. Thumbs Up!

This is absolutely , hands down the best place to go to . RILEY has always been the one to answer my calls any time I contact them and lemme tell you. This girl is beyond wonderful. I was nervous bringing my baby as iv had bad experiences in the past going to different clinics but she was so sweet and welcoming. She answered all my questions and gave me extra helpful info . She always had a smile on regardless how early we went in . I can’t remember the second persons name that was there during pick up but she was also so sweet. Dr.B just so happened to be there during my pick up the first time around and is a remarkably benevolent soul. All around I’ve had nothing but great experiences coming here . The staff is wonderful , I can’t express it enough . I wish they were a full clinic so I could have them as our primary. Thank you all for what you do 💕

We brought our 80-lb, 5-year-old Aussiedoodle in today for a sebaceous cyst removal — it was our first visit, and we were so impressed. The entire staff was professional, polite, and genuinely friendly from the moment we walked in.The doctor carefully evaluated the cyst, explained everything clearly, and provided a very fair quote for removal. She even offered a dental cleaning at an incredible price that was too good to pass up. We truly appreciated the transparency and lack of pressure. Our dog is unfortunately prone to cysts, but we feel lucky to have found a place we trust for future care. Thank you so much for seeing our sweet pup the same day — you all are amazing!
